About BrokerExam

Why it exists

The Level 1 exam is open book, and most of the work is knowing where in the Act, the regulations, the by-laws and the standard wordings an answer lives. The study material around it is either a course's own or advice passed between candidates, and neither lets you check an answer against the provision it came from. BrokerExam is free practice in any browser. Most answers link straight into the law on this site, word for word. Where an answer rests on a standard policy wording rather than on public law, there is no section to link, and the explanation is what it stands on.

How questions are written

Every question is original. It is written from the public law this site reproduces on its own pages: the Registered Insurance Brokers Act, the regulation and the by-law under it, the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule, and the Ontario Automobile Policy. Nothing is copied from a course, a textbook or another prep product, and nothing is paraphrased from one.

Most carry the provision they rest on, as a link into the law on this site. The others are written from a standard policy wording, which is not law and is not reproduced here, so they carry the explanation alone.

Each question ships with an explanation of why the right answer is right and the others are not. The sources page records when each source was last fetched and audited against its publisher.

Independence

BrokerExam is independent study material. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any regulator or exam provider.

RIBO sets, delivers and marks the exam. Nothing here is the exam, a mock sat here is not a sitting, and a score here is not a result. What this site offers is practice on the material the exam draws from.

Privacy

Practice on the free pages stays in your browser until you open an account. An account holds what you answer, your mock and diagnostic results, your flashcard schedule, and whether you have paid. There is no advertising and nothing is sold on. The site does measure page traffic with Google Analytics. The privacy page is the full list: everything an account holds, who else sees any of it, and how to close the account yourself.

Corrections

Spotted a wrong answer, an outdated section, or a citation that no longer matches its source? Every question inside an account has a report box, and anyone can write to [email protected]. A question found wrong is corrected or withdrawn, and the source page it rests on is re-checked.
