Blackletter

Practice built on the statute, with the provision beside the answer.

Blackletter makes practice sites for licensing exams that are set on public law. The idea is the same on every one: the law comes first, the questions are written from it, and where an answer rests on a section, that section is on the site for you to read.

BrokerExam · brokerexam.ca

The RIBO Level 1 broker exam, Ontario. Written from the Registered Insurance Brokers Act, its regulations, RIBO's by-laws and the standard auto policy. Restricted open book, RIBO's Consolidated Examinee Resource on screen and nothing else, so the practice is as much about finding the provision as knowing it.

DealerPrep · dealerprep.ca

The OMVIC dealer and salesperson exam, Ontario. Written from the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act, its regulations and the Code of Ethics, with OMVIC's published discipline cases alongside.

LBExam · lbexam.com

The California contractor Law and Business exam. Written from the Business and Professions Code, the Civil Code lien provisions, the Labor Code and the CSLB's rules. Closed book, so nothing comes into the room with you.

How the work is checked

We write every question and article on these sites from the public sources cited beside it: the Act, the regulations, the regulator's own rules and its published decisions. Nothing here comes from a course book, someone else's question bank, or memory. Before a question goes live we check it against the source, then go back and check it again with the draft out of sight, working from the cited section alone. If it does not hold up, it is fixed or it goes. Where an answer rests on the law, it links to the section, reproduced on the site, so you can read it yourself rather than take our word for it. If you spot a mistake, tell us and we will put it right as quickly as we can.

Blackletter is independent. It is not affiliated with RIBO, OMVIC or the CSLB, and none of them creates, reviews or endorses what is here.
